A Giving Tree Adoptions takes privacy of everyone seriously. Once you choose to provide us personally indentifiable information you can be assured that it will only be used to support your relationship to AGTA.  

Client Confidentiality 

AGTA will recognize each person’s inherent dignity, integrity, and right to privacy. We work to ensure that records are kept personal and confidential. Over the course of the adoption process, AGTA must be free to discuss all aspects of a client’s file with all professionals involved in the adoption process. 

This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Exchanging information with adoption consultants; 
  • Adoption attorneys;
  • Primary, supervised or exempt provider agencies; 
  • Government entities; 
  • Physicians;
  • Social workers;
  • Medical staff; 
  • Agencies/Individuals involved in the adoption process.

It is mandatory that all individuals involved in the adoption process understand the importance of confidentiality. As a condition of working with AGTA, individuals are required to agree to the following guidelines:

AGTA considers clients as anyone who provides information in any form, whether or not they complete the adoption process. 

AGTA will not allow any employee, contract worker, board member, volunteer or intern to disclose or make use of any information, directly or indirectly, concerning a child or family, or both, other than in the course of performance of his/her duties.  

Information that may identify a child or the biological family, as well as other information in the client record, is confidential and may not be disclosed if the file was sealed for such a purpose.

Information released to other service providers should be on an as needed basis only. Not all information may need to be released.

Whenever applicable, AGTA will furnish or ask for authorization for release of information from clients before information is either released or asked for.

Financial Contributions Privacy Policy

AGTA does not sell, rent or lend the telephone number, street addresses, or email addresses of our financial contributors, subscribers or clients.

Public Forums

AGTA may make social media platforms, forums, message boards, blogs, and/or news groups available to you. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

Links to Other Sites

Our website may contain links to other web sites, including web sites directed towards children. We have no control over the privacy practices or the content of any of our business partners, sponsors or other sites to which we provide links from our site. We encourage you to check the applicable privacy policy of the web site sponsor when linking to other websites.

Any reference or link to a commercial or noncommercial product, process, service, or company is not an endorsement or recommendation by AGTA.  AGTA does not endorse or recommend products, services, or manufacturers.  AGTA assumes no liability whatsoever for the use or contents of any product or service mentioned.

Email Communication

AGTA will only collect personal information that you knowingly and voluntarily provide by, for example, email addresses and/or telephone numbers. If you provide us with personal information, we will respond to your inquiry or request by electronic mail, or telephone, depending on your requests and our resources.

We may also contact you to provide information about AGTA activities, programs, and development opportunities, and special events that may interest you. We will never share your name or information outside AGTA unless you affirmatively authorize us to do so.

AGTA website offers opportunities to communicate with some of our programs by electronic mail. Because normal email is not encrypted, the possibility exists that unauthorized individuals may intercept email messages with us.  AGTA is not responsible for the privacy of email messages except those stored in our system.

Choice/Opt-Out

You always have the opportunity to opt-out of receiving electronic communication. If you wish to remove your contact information from our database and not receive future communications from us, send an email request to info@agivingtreeadoptions.org.

AGTA is proud to be a source of information for our many programs and services.  Our comments are based on professional advice, experience and expert opinion, but do not represent therapeutic recommendations or prescriptions.
